I’m just back from a trip to the border, where I visited the Antelope Wells Border station with my colleague Lauren Villagran. This is the station where the seven-year-old Guatemalan girl named Jakelin Caal crossed with her father and fell ill—and later died. We walked the border fence and tried to imagine Jakelin’s journey north to this isolated outpost on a chilly winter night.
